Viator started operations in 1999, originally in the form of a development programme managed by Normisijon, a development organisation founded by the Lutheran Church of Norway. Viator works in six of the poorest districts in the northwest of the country.
- Viator is the 10th microfinance institution of the country in terms of portfolio size and the 6th in terms of active borrowers.
- As of 31 December 2010, Viator was financing 13,858 active borrowers – mostly women – with a portfolio of 5.7 million euros, this via a network of five agencies with 87 employees.
- Between now and 2013, Viator seeks to serve 22,800 clients via seven agencies. The institution would also like to develop its training services.

Viator proposes two credit products, which very largely follow an individual credit methodology, for amounts ranging from 90 euros to 5,610 euros and maturities of 3 to 18 months.
Support from Grameen Credit Agricole Microfinance Foundation
The Grameen Crédit Agricole Microfinance Foundation has made a loan of AZN 600,000 (equivalent to EUR 560,000) available to Viator for a 3-year period.
