Mutualist-inspired principles and organisation
The Crédit Agricole Group’s roots go deep into the cooperative movement of the end of the 19th century. Its current organisation reflects this origin: it is based today on 39 “caisses regionales” with a cooperative status, indirectly owned by 6 million members.
The Caisse Régionales of Crédit Agricole in turn own the majority of the capital of Crédit Agricole SA. This listed company plays the role of central and holding body of the Group’s main subsidiaries.
